Lynn Crandall, MA, Director, USC Institute for Genetic Medicine Art Gallery, holds a BA from Northwestern University and an MA from the University of Notre Dame. Secretary of the Board of artAngels.org, she is a member of the SoCal Sister Cities International Board of Directors, a member of the L.A./Nagoya Sister Cities Association and a member of the LAC+USC Arts Council. She has served on the League of Women Voters of Los Angeles Board of Directors, as VOTER Editor and as Project Manager of the 2007 Open World/LWVUS Russian Civic Hosting Program. As L.A. Project Manager for Focus the Nation's and Americans for Informed Democracy's annual Forums and Town Hall meetings and State of California Master Teacher, she links the Garfield High School Green Architecture Design and Global Studies Academies to the California State Standards and local and global Track II Diplomacy opportunities. As Director of the Riordan Leadership Development Program from 1992 - 1997, she trained over 400 young professionals in the skills of nonprofit board governance. She served on the Los Angeles City Council on Aging and as Tour Curator for the New Museum of Contemporary Art in New York, organizing multi-city art tours for the TNM Board under Board President, Henry Luce, III, and Director, Marcia Tucker. Lynn's extensive travel to international medical science conferences and art exhibits has enabled her to advocate for citizen diplomacy, art and culture and to establish sustainable collaborative relationships locally and globally. M. Elizabeth Fini, Ph.D.,Senior Associate Dean for Research advancement at the USC Keck School of Medicine is a molecular cell biologist. Working to advance the medical school's research mission, Dr. Fini supports the research enterprise through new programs for the recruitment and retention of faculty and their successful competition for research grants. Dr. Fini also serves as Director of the Institute for Genetic Medicine (IGM) .
Dr. David Agus, M.D.,heads USC's Westside Prostate Cancer Center and the Center for Applied Molecular Medicine. His research focuses on the application of proteomics and genomics for the study of cancer and the development of new therapeutics for cancer. Dr. Agus's clinical responsibilities include the development of clinical trials for new drugs and treatments for prostate cancer, his groundbreaking work being supported by the National Cancer Institute and other private foundations. Laurence Kedes, MDWilliam M. Keck Professor of Biochemistry & Molecular Biology and Professor Emeritus USC Keck School of Medicine, is the founding Director of the University of Southern California Institute for Genetic Medicine. Before joining USC, Dr. Kedes was a member of the faculty of the Stanford University School of Medicine (1970 to 1989) as Assistant, Associate and full Professor of Medicine. During 1976-1977, he was a fellow of the John Simon Guggenheim Foundation and worked at the Imperial Cancer Research Foundation laboratories in London, England. From 1974 to 1982 he was an Investigator at the Howard Hughes Medical Institute. Dr. Kedes is also the Scientific Director and Senior Advisor to the X PRIZE Foundation and its Archon X PRIZE in Genomics.
Tony Pereira PhD,is a scientist and mechanical engineer who holds a PhD and MSME from UCLA with a specialty in Micro Computer Engineering, Advanced Software Engineering and Solar Energy. He has held private industry positions as a Senior Systems Engineer in aerospace research and development and has co-authored two textbook chapters on solar cells and nanocomposites, and scientific papers on composites and sustainability.
Thomas H. Frye, Jr., BAheld leadership positions, providing logistics support for Air Force Intercontinental Ballistic Missiles (ICBMs) and the SR-71 (Blackbird) Programs followed by senior positions in support of Navy ship missile programs. In 1982 he was commended by the White House Office of Science and Technology Planning for his "leadership role in emerging technologies." Experience includes: RCA/ General Electric, small business defense firms and staff member Salvation Army, Ventura Corps. Tom co-founded, LearnOnLine, Inc. in 2002 to focus on the implementation of renewable energy education programs. Tom graduated from San Diego State University with a BA in History. He is a member of the Military Officers Association of America.
Maryam Gueramian, BA, earned her B.A. at the University of California, San Diego in International Studies and Economics. She sees her role as assisting others to better cope with cultural and political difficulties existing in Iran through ensuring that this culture's rich democratic tradition is better understood. Maryam is currently pursuing her MBA at California State University, Northridge and is active in the Los Angeles-Tehran Sister Cities organization.
Marcia Ann Mims Coppertino, PhD, MscD, PsyD Herbologist/Chemist, received her PhD from the University of Arizona. She specializes in holistic and alternative medicine healthcare modalities and protocols for over 3,000 wellness conditions. Her practice primarily involves early prevention and detection methods related to cancer and other systemic conditions. Dr. Coppertino also offers cancer support services in home and pre-hospice care services, and first and second opinions on the success or failure of alternative health selections. She is Board Certified and serves as a diplomat for the Pharmaceutical and Apothecary Sciences Board. A licensed Pastoral Counselor for several healthcare ministries, Marcia is also Former Managing Director for the South Bay Opera Co and a Lyric Soprano. Dr. Coppertino serves on the docent board at the Palos Verdes Art Center and is a member of the Da Camera Society.
Les Hamasaki is a Senior Advisor to the Green Institute for Village Empowerment, GIVE, and a non-profit organization, whose mission is to educate and empower people to help create a sustainable future. He is a green sustainable development consultant for major developments throughout the world. He currently serves as the Managing Director of the Green Technology Institute of the Tom Bradley Legacy Foundation and Gallery at UCLA and
advises the UCLA Dashew International Student Center.
Mr. Hamasaki was with the City of Los Angeles Urban Planning and Community Development departments for over 14 years and was involved with both the 1975-95 City of Los Angeles Centers Concept Master Plan and the 1995-2015 Framework Plans as the Vice President of the Los Angeles Planning Commission under Mayor Riordan.
He was formerly a Los Angeles Airport Commissioner appointed by Mayor Tom Bradley.. Les attended UCLA and received his B.A. degree in environmental planning from California State Polytechnic University, Pomona.
